Replacement and upgrade pumps are only suitable for the type of pool that has both in and out pipes connected to the walls for external pumps. They are not suitable for the type of pool that has a pump inside the pool. They are not self-priming, and will not lift water above the surface level, with the exception of the "Basic Swimming Pool Sand Filtration Kit" which is self-priming.
