A Solar Cover is primarily designed to reduce heat loss in your pool. The surface area of the pool water is very large and vast amounts of heat energy is lost mainly from the top of the pool as the hot air rises! An air gap is created between the water and the cover. This prevents most of the heat energy from escaping upwards. The colour and texture of the cover at the same time focuses the suns rays falling on the surface to amplify the radiated heat from the sun and can easily increase the water temperature by up to 10 degrees by use of the cover alone, without even turning on the heating! The Solar Cover should be on the water for the whole time that the pool is not in use, day and night, for at night the air temperature drops considerably, and this is when water looses most of it's heat. Although not designed as a debris cover, continuous use of a Solar Cover, will keep the water much cleaner with most of the leaves and dust settling on the cover, this can be hosed off when the cover is retracted.
A suitable cover reel and solar protector blanket is recommended as the lifespan is considerably extended when not exposed to the UV when not in use, and of course a cover that is neatly rolled up will not suffer cracks from being continuously folded. A leading edge completes the installation providing a firm front edge so that the cover slides effortlessly over the water, with fixed ropes to pull at the end. Don't forget to add fixings (to the reel) if not ordering a reel, as they are not supplied with covers.

Heat retaining solar covers, essential when using swimming pool heaters to retain internal heat, and in addition they will increase the temperature of the pool water when exposed to sunlight by up to 10 degrees. All covers are UV stabilised for longer life, and supplied with a solar protective sheet which must be fitted when the cover is rolled on the reel. Popular sizes are listed below, however we can make a cover to your specification.
It is recommended that solar covers are fitted with reinforcing and a leading edge when used with a reel system. Covers do not come with strap sets. All non-hemmed coverts are supplied as a rectangle and may require trimming on site using a good pair of household scissors.
Solar cover material is by nature a difficult material to weld, and some undulation of the cover along the weld lines may occur, giving rise to a wavy appearance. It is not always possible to weld a solar cover to give a completely flat appearance.
